papagayo golf course

Papagayo Golf and Country Club is the first private golf course in Costa Rica’s northern Guanacaste province.  This 18-hole course is located just 10 miles southeast of Playas del Coco sitting on 335 acres of slightly undulating meadow land.  The course sprawls across rolling, wooded hills that are abundant with wildlife. It is not uncommon for golfers to come face-to-face with howler monkeys, coatis, and iguanas.

The Papagayo Golf Course was designed in 2005 by Pete Dye.  While designing the layout, he made sure to leave as little impact on the natural environment as possible. Papagayo’s wildlife-friendly design has received an ecological distinction award from the Audubon Society.
